According to The Sun, Pellegrini wants to use his connections at former club Man City to secure a loan move for 18-year-old midfielder Diaz.
Pellegrini bright Diaz to England back in 2013, and the Spain Under-21 international is believed to be highly regarded by current Citizens boss Pep Guardiola.
However, it is thought that Guardiola would be open to sending Diaz on loan this summer, and West Ham are hoping to seal a deal for the very talented teenager.

West Ham are facing the possibility of being without Argentina international Manuel Lanzini for a large chunk of next season after the attacker suffered knee ligament damage.

As a result, Pellegrini is desperate to improve his attacking options this summer, and the acquisition of Diaz would certainly soften the blow of Lanzini’s absence.
Diaz enjoyed a breakthrough 2017-18 campaign at Man City – making 10 first-team appearances for the Premier League champions.
The former Malaga youngster featured on three occasions in the Champions League, meanwhile, and his ability to play in a number of different positions in the final third makes him an attractive proposition for West Ham.
It is certainly a move that could suit both clubs, with West Ham signing a brilliant young talent, whilst a season of first-team football away from Manchester would certainly bring on the youngster’s game.
