Manchester United fans, we know you’ve spent an awful lot of time complaining about Paul Pogba this season despite his 16 goals and 11 assists, stats via Transfermarkt. If you Red Devils were serious though and really want Pogba gone, we may have some good news for you.
What’s the story?
When playing to the best of his ability, Pogba is a force to be reckoned with. For that reason, it’s no surprise that according to Fabrizio Romano, Juventus are interested in signing the Frenchman once again.
The Italian giants saw Pogba at his very best in his four years in Turin, so after three years of stagnation at Old Trafford, it’s no surprise that they want to re-sign him this summer.
The Serie A champions have supposedly opened talks with Pogba’s agent, the infamous Mino Raiola, about a move, although they are yet to submit a formal bid. United are yet to make a decision about the player’s future also, but with plenty of time left this summer, anything can happen.
One less ego
Up until Jose Mourinho was axed from his role as the Manchester United manager it seemed that everything Paul Pogba did was being scrutinised. The Frenchman’s social media footprint was a lot easier to see than the mark he was making on a football pitch and it was starting to grind the gears of plenty of the Old Trafford faithful, as well as their Portuguese manager.
And if the Red Devils are to finally be rid of the former Juventus man in a move that will take him back to Italy, where he developed into one of the world’s greatest midfielders, then it will be a win-win.
Not only will United be able to cash in and make some money ahead of a summer of spending, but this move would also rid them of one of the dressing room’s biggest egos.
The conundrum here lies in whether or not losing Pogba’s off-field status would be worth it considering they lose his on-field talents. It’s true we’re yet to see the best of the Frenchman, but should Ole Gunnar Solskjaer be able to salvage the current squad then there’s no reason why Pogba can’t become the leader that we all know he can be and start taking his time in Manchester a little bit more seriously.
