Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter in fury after they witnessed a horror challenge from Raheem Sterling on Dele Alli receive nothing worse than a yellow card.
One England international went in late on another when the Manchester City forward left his studs on Alli’s ankle, which Mike Dean only saw as a bookable offence while VAR also felt no further action needed to be taken.
The challenge was a poor one and could’ve left the Tottenham No.20 with a serious injury, hence why these Tottenham fans below were livid with the decision.
Sterling almost had a significant impact on proceedings when he went down in the box after Hugo Lloris lunged towards him, seconds after the France international had saved a spot-kick from Ilkay Gundogan – Dean, on this occasion, saw nothing wrong with Lloris’ challenge.
Let’s see what the Tottenham fans have been saying about Dean’s decision to not send the former Liverpool man off…
To kick off the reaction, these two fans were evidently fuming.
‘COYS.com’ questioned how Sterling wasn’t sent off before calling his challenge an “awful” one.
Another fan – named Ally Mac – said the situation was “utterly pathetic” and also said that it’s “beyond a joke at this point”.
Elsewhere, both of these fans said that it was a red card.
Steve Pike added that he’s “not surprised it wasn’t given” while Ben said that it’s an “absolute joke” that the Manchester City No.7 stayed on the pitch.
Lastly, Andy said that it’s “shocking this keeps happening to us” and mentioned that any other team in the country would’ve received a red card for such a challenge.
Someone’s got to own them: Who do these incredibly unwanted PL records belong to?
Then, Ashley asked which Tottenham player needs to have their leg broken for a red card to be given, before adding that it’s “getting ridiculous now”.
