According to a recent update from Sky Sports, Rangers’ chase of Hibernian’s Florian Kamberi might have hit a potential snag along the way, according to journalist Charles Paterson.
Even though the deal is pretty close to being done and dusted as the two clubs have agreed a deal in principle, Jack Ross still wants to find a replacement striker for his departing player before the transfer actually goes through.
Here’s what Paterson said in his latest update for Sky Sports:
“He’s actually in Glasgow at the moment, I understand. That loan deal until the end of the season has been agreed, however it may not go through just yet because Hibernian are trying to find a replacement for Kamberi, they don’t want to be left short in the striking department. Jack Ross, the Hibernian head coach, told us earlier on today that they are trying to source a striker of their own so the Kamberi deal is not yet complete but in principle, Rangers and Hibs have agreed a deal.”

So while Rangers can still be fairly optimistic about the transfer going through given the player is already in Glasgow, the fact Hibs want to source a replacement could yet pose a problem.
It remains to be seen, however, if Hibs do manage to secure a replacement before the end of the transfer window and if their ability, or failure, to do so will impact Kamberi’s move to Ibrox.
The 24-year-old has managed to bag eight goals and four assists in all competitions so far this term, so the interest is very much warranted from Steven Gerrard.
But as things currently stand Rangers could miss out on their deadline day target.
