The Echo says that Adam Lallana and Nathaniel Clyne will leave the club, whilst Dejan Lovren may seek an exit and could be moved on for around £10m. Xherdan Shaqiri’s days could also be numbered, with the Reds said to be open to a £25m permanent exit. Harry Wilson could bring up to £20m should he move on, whilst Marko Grujic could bring in a similar fee to the on-loan Bournemouth man. All in all, that is a projected income of £75m.
Overhaul
A number of these men have played their part for the Reds in recent years. Lallana, Lovren and Shaqiri have all been important squad members over the past two campaigns – they made 64 appearances in all competitions last season – and have provided vital cover in a number of positions. They have also produced some big moments – Lallana conserved the Anfield outfit’s unbeaten run this season by scoring a late equaliser against Manchester United, whilst the Switzerland international scored a brace against the same opponents last term.
Injuries have hampered Clyne, but he was once a regular under Klopp and, although Wilson and Grujic have seldom appeared at Anfield, they have done well whilst out on loan – the former is the Cherries’ second-highest scorer this term, whilst the latter was described by former Hertha Berlin boss Pal Dardai as the best midfielder he had seen at the club in 20 years.

These are all talented players in their own right, but their loss would not be felt too strongly. None are first-team regulars and, although Wilson and Grujic could potentially break into the side one day, Klopp’s XI is not calling out for a player in either of their favoured positions right now. Even as they close in on an inevitable first league title in 30 years, the summer will still need to see progress in terms of the squad, and reported targets such as £126m Jadon Sancho will not come cheap. Adding £75m to the transfer kitty with these potentials departures seems like a no-brainer.
Meanwhile, this Liverpool man deserves to win PFA Player of the Year.
