da casino: Arsenal have seen a bid for Juventus defender Daniele Rugani turned down and it’s not the first approach the Gunners have made for the Italian centre-back, CalcioMercato reports.
What’s the word?
da cassino: Despite boasting a defence that, on paper at least, should be one of the best back-lines in the Premier League, Arsenal’s defence has looked shaky and changes will be necessary in the coming years- with Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker both the wrong side of 30.
Having spent big last summer to bring Shkodran Mustafi and young Rob Holding to the Emirates Stadium, it seems Arsenal are not done building a back-line for the future as CalcioMercato states the Gunners have seen a €30m bid rejected by Juventus for Daniele Rugani.
The 22-year-old defender has had limited playing opportunities in Turin, due to competition with the likes of Leonardo Bonucci, Andrea Barzagli and Giorgio Chiellini but he has impressed when he has featured- and his openings should increase in the immediate future.
Will Juventus sell?
Juventus see young Daniele Rugani as an irreplaceable player within their squad and he’s seen as a crucial part of the Turin giants’ future- especially as Bonucci (29), Barzagli (35) and Chiellini (32) now in the twilight years of their career.
Rugani, along with young Mattia Caldara, a recent arrival from Atalanta, are seen as the future of Juventus in the heart of defence and they’re extremely unlikely to approve a sale anytime soon- so Arsenal will likely have to look elsewhere.
