da lvbet: Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has admitted that he is not overly pleased with his business in this summer’s transfer window.
da luck: Mourinho has brought centre-back Victor Lindelof and forward Romelu Lukaku to Old Trafford from Benfica and Everton respectively since the end of the 2016-17 campaign.
However, the Red Devils have been frustrated in their pursuit of Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic, with the Croatian’s Serie A club holding firm on their £45m valuation, whilst a move for Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic has also gone cold.
Despite improving his first XI with two big signings this summer, Mourinho has conceded that he is not happy with his transfer business as he looks to add two more players before the window slams shut at the end of August.
Mourinho told ESPN:
“We always want more. We always feel there is room to improve, and I cannot say that I am happy with our transfer window.
“What I can also say is that it is a difficult transfer window, and I don’t blame anyone – it is just a reality of things. The market is going in such a direction that many players are difficult to get, not to say impossible.
“Every club is powerful, and they don’t want to sell or their demands are really high, so the market is difficult.”
Man United have beaten Los Angeles Galaxy and Real Salt Lake in their first two pre-season matches this summer.
Next up for the 20-time English champions is a clash with rivals Manchester City on Thursday night, before facing Real Madrid and Barcelona in the latter stages of their tour of the United States.
