da dobrowin: According to Greek news outlet Sportime, Wolverhampton Wanderers have taken a keen interest in Olympiacos goalkeeper Jose Sa after a string of impressive performances in the Champions League.
And once again, super-agent Jorge Mendes could play a part.
What’s the word?
The report suggests that Wolves along with Leicester City, Arsenal and West Ham United are tracking the 26-year-old.
Sa only joined the Greek giants on a permanent deal in the summer after they activated his release clause of €2.5m (£2.1m) from Porto.
Nuno Santo was actually the manager at the time when the Portuguese shot-stopper joined the club, so that will only add further fuel to the fire on any potential deal.
As will the fact that Sa is a client of Mendes, who has deep ties to the west Midlands club despite them claiming in the past that he is merely a ‘known associate.’
Mendes influence
The super-agent has a hold on many players and staff amongst the Wolves ranks, including the manager, Ruben Neves, and Joao Moutinho.
So it would be fair to suggest that this potential move may have some legs after all.
The club could well be in for a goalkeeper in the summer as current backup option John Ruddy sees his contract expire at the end of the seas, and after his recent performance in the Carabao Cup, he could be walking a tight line anyway.
Next in line would appear to be Will Norris, who is on loan to League One Ipswich Town, which probably isn’t the standard of football Nuno will want to rely on if he needs to call upon a backup next season.

By contrast, Sa has been playing in the Champions League this season with games against Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Bundesliga outfit Bayern Munich.
Per Transfermarkt, the shot-stopper has also kept seven clean sheets from ten league appearances, which only offers up further encouragement to sign him as a backup to fellow countryman Rui Patricio.
